IIM-A honours six young alumni achievers

Awards given in three categories: corporate, entrepreneurship and academics

The annual Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, “Young Alumni Achievers Awards” were presented to six of its alumni. The awards are given to alumni under the age of 45, for outstanding achievements across various fields.

Prof Errol D’Souza, Director, IIM-A, said, “IIM-A recognised the contribution of six of its young alumni who have demonstrated leadership in varied fields such as corporate, entrepreneurial, academic and public service. The careers of these aspirational individuals are role models for our students, as behind each success is a story of diligence in goal-setting and overcoming obstacles in the endeavour to achieve them. In the process, they have enriched society, in addition to the organisations they have worked with.”

This year’s awards were given in three categories:


1. Sumit Jalan, PGP batch of 2002, currently Managing Director, Co-Head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Credit Suisse, India

2. Vaishali Rastogi, PGP batch of 1997, currently Senior Partner and Managing Director, Head of South East Asia, The Boston Consulting Group

3. Viraj Sawhney, PGP batch of 2000, currently Managing Director, Warburg Pincus, India


1. Pranay Agrawal, PGP batch of 1998, CEO, Fractal Analytics

2. Srikanth Velamakanni, PGP batch of 1998, Group CEO, Fractal Analytics


1. Dr Suchitra Sebastian, PGP batch of 1997, University Reader in Physics at University of Cambridge, UK

“We have been celebrating the contributions and achievements of our young alumni with these awards for some years now. But each year, I get surprised by the diversity of areas in which our alumni have made a mark. As a teacher, it brings me joy and makes me proud. Our alumni are our ambassadors, and I am sure such contributions will not only inspire and motivate future students, they will also take IIM-A to newer heights," said Prof Rakesh Basant, Dean, Alumni and External Relations, IIM-A.
