IIM Calcutta places largest-ever batch of 439

Aditya Birla Group, Amazon among top recruiters

The largest batch of 439 students at IIM Calcutta was placed in just two and a half days at IIM Calcutta, receiving almost 500 offers during the final placement process, including 21 international offers.

Popularly known as the finance campus, the B-School received more than 100 offers in the sector. Firms including Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citibank, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, JPMC, Avendus Capital, ICICI Securities, Kotak IBD, and Edelweiss recruited for multiple roles.

Blackrock & MasterCard were among the first-time recruiters.

Around 20 per cent of the offers came from consulting firms including Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co., McKinsey, AT Kearney and Accenture Management Consulting.

Other consulting firms which hired from IIM Calcutta included Alvarez and Marsal, Opera Solutions, Ernst & Young and Deloitte Consulting (USI).

The sales and marketing sector contributed to 19 per cent of the offers. Hindustan Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Johnson & Johnson, STAR India, Asian Paints, ITC, and Phillips were some of the prominent recruiters in the sector. International offers in marketing were made by AdCuratio, a first-time recruiter.

Leadership and general management roles were offered by Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, CK Birla Group, Samsung India, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and Wipro (Global 100 Programme).

Aditya Birla Group made 17 offers; the highest number of offers made at IIM Calcutta.

The e-commerce sector emerged as the mainstream recruiter, with over 20 per cent of the offers made by firms like Amazon, Snapdeal, Flipkart, PayTM, Olacabs, Uber, and RedBus.

Chinese electronics and mobile phones giant Xiaomi also hired from the institute for its product manager role. Online medical practice management firm CallHealth, digital marketing firm Amagi Media Labs (Marketing) and Loginext Solutions (Logistics start-up) participated for the first time and offered managerial roles.
