IIM Indore welcomes new batch of defence officers

The batch profile includes 12 retired officers and 48 officers in service

The induction programme of the 17th batch of the Certificate Course in Business Management for Defence Officers (CCBMDO) took place virtually at IIM Indore recently. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore; in the presence of Professor Sanjay C Choudhari, Programme Coordinator and Faculty, IIM Indore, and all the 60 registered participants (51 male, 09 female participants); who attended the inauguration in the online mode. The batch profile includes 12 retired officers and 48 officers who are in service, from Army (28), Airforce (19) and Navy (13).

Prof Rai congratulated the officers to have the courage to embark upon a new journey by enrolling in CCBMDO. “Just the way you are on a mission when you are on a field, it’s important to find a mission and a purpose in your life as well. This purpose will help you decide what your destination will be,” he said. Mentioning that the mission of IIM Indore is to remain contextually relevant and provide world-class academics, Prof Rai said that this programme will help the participants gain some important management skills such as coordination, which is required in the current scenario where we are entering the ‘new normal.’

Prof Choudhari welcomed the batch and gave a brief of the programme. He noted that the armed forces are one of the most valuable work forces. They are self-disciplined, highly enthusiastic, and courageous with high level of leadership ability. “We have designed a challenging learning experience that focuses on real-world problems, solutions and providing new knowledge and tools to face challenges in corporate arena,” he said.
