IIM Nagpur records 100 per cent placements

Consulting and IT emerged as the most sought-after sectors

IIM Nagpur has completed its final placements process for the fifth batch of its flagship Master’s programme in Business Administration (MBA). With the largest batch of 121 students who appeared for the placement process this year, IIM Nagpur achieved 100 per cent placement on March 4, 2021. The current batch, which was beset by an unpredictable year, successfully adapted to the virtual mode of campus placements.

IIM Nagpur welcomed recruiters across various sectors such as consulting, banking, financial services insurance (BFSI), FMCG, Consumer durables, edtech, e-Commerce, analytics, and logistics. The list of prominent recruiters who have participated in this year’s campus placements season includes Bain & Co, BNY Mellon, Accenture, Arcelor Mittal, DHL, Deloitte, Dalmia Bharat, Tata Power, TVS, ZS Associates, L&T InfoTech, Crompton Greaves, IQVIA, HCL, Magicbricks, Tresvista & Urban Company. Despite the uncertainty faced this year, IIM Nagpur has witnessed an increase in the average package and median package offered in the campus recruitment season.

The average and median package for this year were ₹13.21 lakh per annum and ₹13 lakh per annum respectively. Consulting and IT emerged as the most sought-after sectors, followed by BFSI & FMCG/FMCD, with more than 60 per cent of the batch opting for companies in these sectors. The current year also witnessed participation from Logistics, E-Commerce, Manufacturing, edtech, with more than 20 per cent of the batch choosing profiles in these sectors. Strategy, Consulting and analytics were the most sought-after roles by the students.

First-time recruiters

Apart from these, roles in marketing, finance, and operations were offered to the students. This year also witnessed participation from 41 first-time recruiters, which included companies like Bain & Co., Xiaomi, Sula Vineyards, NCR Corporation, Salesforce, Utkarsh Bank, Collegedunia, Zypp Electric, and Accolite. “IIM Nagpur has distinguished itself by successfully securing 100 per cent placements despite the pandemic. Not only does this testify to the excellence in management education that our students receive at IIM Nagpur, but also to the agility with which the institute has responded to the crisis — moving classes online, leveraging the virtual environment to connect with more industry experts, and ensuring that our curriculum evolves with the needs of the industry.” said Prof Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur.
