IIM Ranchi successfully launched Aarohan, the leadership speak series aimed at student interaction with stalwarts in various fields. The prime intent of the leadership speak series is to invite role models from several sectors, to address the IIM Ranchi community, particularly the students.
The first lecture provided the students an opportunity to interact with Lt Gen Arun Kumar Sahni, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command of the Indian Army. Gen Sahni is also an alumnus of National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy.
His career highlights include the command of a self-propelled regiment in the desert sector, a mountain artillery brigade in the counter insurgency sector in the Northeast, an independent infantry brigade in Jammu & Kashmir, and a division as part of a strike corps, on the western borders.
The event started with the Director-in-Charge, Prof Anindya Sen, felicitating Lt Gen Sahni. The director addressed the gathering, talking about Aarohan as a mode to promote intellectual growth and facilitate development. The topic of the talk was “Leadership in the Army: Tenets for Wider Application”. Lt Gen Sahni, during his address, touched upon topics such as the need for mental resilience, military leadership and different types of training in the Army. He spoke about different models used in the Army and the 6 Cs of leadership.
The talk was attended by Prof Sen, Major General R Nagraj, GOC, 23 Inf. Division, Brig VS Saini (Retd), CAO of IIM Ranchi, Army officers, students, faculty and staff members of IIM Ranchi.
