IIM Rohtak 'breaks the monotony' with flash mob

Institute conducting flash mob since 2013

Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak recently organised the third edition of its ‘Flash Mob’ event at Cyber Hub, Gurgaon. The theme of the performance was ‘Break the Monotony’; to take oneself out of the recurring pattern in a never-ending rut.

A flash mob typically includes a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place and perform an unusual or a theme based act for a brief period of time.

The event successfully gathered a number of enthusiastic individuals from the institute, who danced to deliver a message to individuals who have started living a mechanical life and have forgotten the joy of living. The participants excited the crowd with an energetic expression of their dancing skills. They performed to a mix of pop, hip hop and contemporary tunes, which made the curious locals accumulate in big numbers to witness the surprise performance on an otherwise boring Friday afternoon.

Over the last couple years, IIM Rohtak has been organising a flash mob to raise awareness about various social problems. The first edition of the institute’s flash mob took place in 2013 which highlighted the very importance of women in each one's lives. The second one happened in 2014 as an attempt to bring paradigm shift in the society towards AIDS-affected children.
