IIM Rohtak organises 7th HR Summit

Speakers say employee engagement is imperative for retention and performance

IIM Rohtak recently organised its 7th HR Summit, the theme of which was Best HR practices on contemporary issues.

The event was attended by various HR professionals and industry experts who participated in the discussions and presented insightful ideas during the event.

The first panel discussed “how employee engagement is imperative for employee retention and performance”. Pritpal S Kular, VP-HR of General Motors India, spoke of the company’s employee policy of “Say, Stay and Strive”.

Sunil Arora, Managing Director of Abilities, India Pistons & Rings, touched upon the employee engagement programme in his organisation, through which all employees and managers celebrate birthdays, Family Day, share a common canteen and collectively solve employee issues at the workplace.

Performance and potential

The second panel discussion revolved around the interrelation between employee performance and potential. Sarmistha Roy Chowdhury, DGM-HR, DCW, emphasised on the prudence of gradually evolving one's skillset to adapt to the needs of the company. Sonali De Sarkar, Director HR at NetApp, highlighted the need for a potent talent management strategy for any organisation, and the utility of good HR practices in ensuring a successful talent pipeline.

The topics for the succeeding sessions were: “Social media: Bliss for corporates to attract talent” and “Diversity in organisations: Role of HR” respectively.
