IIM Rohtak organises Management Conclave

Seven panel discussions took place on various management issues

Indian Institute of Management Rohtak recently hosted its fifth edition of the annual Management Conclave. The theme of the event was 'Opportunity in Crisis: Call for Intelligent Innovation'. Seven panel discussions were hosted over two days.

Day One saw three panels deliberating on turning adversity into advantage. The first panel discussed the topic 'The Shifting Marketing Landscape: Rapid Transformation of Marketing.' Sharad Gupta, Group Head, Escorts Group, pointed out that the concept of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) had now evolved into CMR (Customer Managed Relationships). Chandana Agarwal, Managing Partner, Oglivy and Mather, concurred saying that the ownership of brands had shifted from companies to customers. Taru Dahiya, SMB Country Lead, Google and Nikhil Rathi, Region Head, ITC Agri, also shared their experiences about innovative marketing practices.

The second panel was on the role of innovation in compensation and appraisal systems while the third panel discussed 'Structured Finance: Obstacles and Growth Opportunities'. Rajeev Gupta, Senior VP, Religare Securities, Ashish Jain, Head of Finance, Bharti Airtel, Jitendra Kushwah, VP Finance, SpiceJet, and Vinay Chopra, CEO and MD, Enoch Ventures were the panellists for the discussion and spoke about issues like risk management, transparency and disclosure policies in their respective companies.

The second day of the event focused on the transformation in the working of various verticals in the face of adversity. The operations panel of the conclave discussed on the topic “Managing Operations and Supply Chain under market uncertainties.”

Deepak Tuli, Co-Founder and COO, GoIbibo, recalled the journey of GoIbibo and how it made its way to the summit of the online travel booking industry through numerous uncertainties, Anil Chopra, Business Head, Technical Skill Development, Siemens described how Siemens excelled in its procurement process through implementing e-bidding for their suppliers.

The discourse in the HR panel revolved around the topic “HR perspective for employee creativity in organisations”, while the strategy panel discussion focused on “Strategy in dynamically networked, digitised markets - Hypercompetition”.

The IT panel discussed the topic “Innovation in IT: Intelligence gathering for Smart Business.” It deliberated upon the importance of innovation in the fields of Data Analytics and Customer Relationship Management.
