IIM Trichy inaugurates its permanent campus

The campus is located in Chinna Suriyur village, Tiruchirappalli

Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, digitally inaugurated IIM Trichy’s state-of-the-art campus recently. KK Sharma, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Trichy, and Secretary (HE), MHRD, Government of India; Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary, MHRD; Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIM Trichy; V Gopal, Dean Accounts and Administration, IIM Trichy; G Sethu, IIM Trichy; and Selvanathan, Senior Consultant Administration, IIM Trichy were present for the event, among others.

Prafulla Agnihotri took the audience through a virtual tour of the campus. He highlighted the theme of the new campus as ‘creating a community of learners’.

Prakash Javadekar declared the IIM Trichy permanent campus open. Referring to the IIMs as institutes of national importance, the Minister urged the community to address and study the social issues of managerial relevance like public sanitation projects and impact of demonetisation. He also announced a revised total budget of ₹772 crores (as against ₹333 crores of Phase-I), which will be utilised for the Phase-II of the campus. He also mentioned that the IIM Bill is likely to be passed in the Parliament soon.

KK Sharma congratulated the institute on this historic occasion, and assured support from MHRD. G Sethu proposed the vote of thanks.
