IIM Trichy welcomes 8th PGPBM batch

IIM Trichy will collaborate with ICSSR to make research relevant to country’s development

IIM Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) welcomed its eighth batch of Post-Graduate Programme in Business Management on July 27.

Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Trichy, said the growth of the institution is to be attributed to the strength of its faculty who have varied exposure and have undertakem research in various fields. IIM Trichy has the vision to widen its scope in Chennai through multiple programmes in the coming years. IIM Trichy has been working on various government initiated projects and will collaborate with ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) on “Redefining research for nation building” to make research relevant to the development of the country.

Saigeetha Sankar, Director, Rexon Proserv, and an alumna, shared how the rigorous academic programme helped in making the participants grounded, well balanced and experts in time management.

Continuous learning

Niranjana P, Vice-President and Head — Technology and Corporate Services, Larsen and Toubro, spoke of the impact the current government had in improving the confidence of foreign investors and funding agencies to invest in India. He highlighted how the government is supporting increased investments and discussed the role of students in addressing the issues in current economy.

Geetha Muralidhar, Chairman and MD, Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India, spoke about the current generation’s need for instant gratification that had to be overcome for them to be successful. She stressed the need for continuous learning and how students could move up the corporate ladder by shifting their focus from being specialists to generalists and from analysts to integrators.

Kayalvizhi S bagged the award for the best academic performance in every term of PGPBM 2017-19 batch while Balagee R, Arasuprakash S and Tusar Kanti Giri received the award for PGPBM 2018-20 batch. The Director’s Merit Awards were presented to top five students in PGPBM 2017-2019 — Kayalvizhi S, Vijaya Krishnna C S, S Sundarakamatchi, Lakshminarayanan Govindaraj, and Jerome B Johnson. The Best Industry Project was awarded to Nanda Kumar R, Jeyesh Jeykhar JS and Kumar S.
