Premier B-school, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) informed that 131 companies including 41 new recruiters picked up the managerial talents from the institute during the final placements in 2021. The institute informed that total 131 firms participated with 170 different roles in the placement process in 2021. However, the total number of recruiting companies fell as compared to last year, when 153 firms had participated with 182 different roles.
Also, the number of students opting for entrepreneurship has also fallen to just one as against two each in 2020 and 2019 and six in 2018. Commenting on the unusual year and the placements under the shadow of Covid-19, Amit Karna, Chairperson of the Placement Committee at IIMA, said, "We completed the placement process in a virtual mode with recruiters and students logging in from remote locations. The process achieved its stated objective of finding the right student-recruiter fit by providing students with options to upgrade and dream on the organisations of their choice. The 2021 placement process also demonstrated the preparedness of the Institute to adapt to the changing times."

The first time recruiter at the institute, Akanksha Chaturvedi, Head of HR at Navi said, "With a strong alumni presence, IIMA for us was one of the preferred campuses. The entire process was seamless and well managed.” As a regular recruiter, Mario Gonsalves, Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group commented, "While recruitment processes at campus have been managed like clockwork historically, given Covid-related restrictions, running a virtual process seemed like an insurmountable challenge at the start of the season. However, it has been no different this time. The IIMA team and our internal teams have strived hard to ensure that we bring the best of IIMA to BCG, yet again."
