IIM-A, ISB and IIM-B featured in FT rankings

IIM-A ranks 24 overall with a strong career progress parameter but weak research

IIM Ahmedabad has inched up in the Financial Times Global MBA Ranking to the 24 th spot this year followed by the Indian School of Business and IIM Bangalore at the 29 th and 62 nd rank respectively. Last year, India’s top B-School was ranked 26, ISB was ranked 33 and IIM Bangalore was at 82.

IIM Ahmedbad has topped the ‘career progress parameter’ of the rankings. The ‘career progress parameter’ is defined as changes in the level of seniority and size of the company for which alumni are working now, versus before their MBA. ISB and IIM Bangalore are ranked 30 and 32 when it comes to career progression.

Research remains the weakest area for IIM Ahmedabad. IIM A ranked 98 in research, where as ISB ranked 62 (three ranks up) and IIM Bangalore stood at 97.

On the other hand, France and Singapore based INSEAD has topped the rankings for the first time. It is followed by Harvard Business School, London Business School, University of Pennsylvania: Wharton, and Stanford Graduate School of Business at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th spot respectively.

The FT rankings is compiled using data collected from the schools and a survey of alumni who completed full-time MBAs in 2011.
