Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) recently launched a technology portal for social work. Community Outreach Portal, launched on January 9, is a unique interaction platform that brings together organisations looking for volunteers to conduct social activities and volunteers who wish to contribute to these activities based on their interests and in different capacities.
It was launched by Prof O P Kohli, Governor of Gujarat, in the presence of Prof Anil K Gupta, Director and Coordinator of Community Outreach at the institute.
The Community Outreach Portal is also branded as Pahal, Parichay and Parinaam to indicate the stages of a social initiative (initiating, introducing, and impact, respectively). The portal aims to reduce the ex-ante transaction and search costs involved in looking for social activities and volunteers.
The portal has been launched in a phased manner beginning with IIM-A, followed by colleges and NGOs in Ahmedabad and Gujarat, and finally across India. To check out the portal, click here .
