IIM-A plans Policy and Management programme

Indian economy is in good shape, says MasterCard's Ajay Banga in Convocation address

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) plans to start a programme on Policy and Management in the coming months, said Ashish Nanda, Director, at the 50th convocation of the institute on Saturday.

"We are contemplating establishing a Policy and Management Programme in the near future," Nanda said durng his convocation address here in presence of Ajay Banga, President and CEO, MasterCard.

Nanda shared details about the institute's working with alumni and corporate well-wishers. "In recent past, alumni and corporate together have contributed to 11 faculty chairs and faculty fellow positions at IIM-A," informed Nanda.

At the convocation, where over 500 students were conferred with the Diplomas in IIM-A's PGP, PGP-ABM, PGP-X and FPM programmes, some of the alumni from the first batch of the institute were also present.

Banga, who along with his wife were also alumni of the institute, advised students to be patient in the adverse market scenario.

Speaking to the media after the convocation, Banga expressed optimism about the Indian economy. "The economy is in a good shape. The impetus behind the Indian economy is a strong one. What the Prime Minister has set out to do is create more number of jobs through focus on manufacturing by Make in India. There is a lot of momentum. Foreign investments are coming in. Things don't change in three months or six months. You must have patience," Banga said.
