IIM-B’s Vaibhav Singh chosen as Aditya Birla Scholar (class of 2017-18)

The avid sportsperson and scholar was selected from a pool of 179 nominations

Vaibhav Singh, from the 2017-19 batch of the Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) at IIM Bangalore, has been chosen as the Aditya Birla Scholar – Class of 2017-18.

The Aditya Birla Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship given to PGPM students across the country. Each scholar receives an amount of ₹1,75,000 per annum. The students who are granted the scholarship during the first year are eligible to apply for renewal in the second year, provided they belong to the top 25 per cent of the batch in the first year.

This year, the competition was tough, said the judges, who shortlisted 37 aspirants from a pool of 179 nominations. The panel of judges included Pragnya Ram, Group Executive President, Corporate Communications & CSR, Aditya Birla Group; Ranjit Shahani, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Novartis India Limited; Sukanya Kripalu, Director, Sukanya Consulting, and Vikram Bhalla, Senior Partner & Managing Director, The Boston Consulting Group.

Besides being an ETH Zurich Excellence Scholar and an IIT Kanpur department gold medallist, Vaibhav Singh is an avid sports enthusiast and excels in many sports. He has represented the international cricket team of Switzerland against other continental European nations in ODIs and has won numerous team championships and individual awards. Currently, he is part of the tennis team at IIM Bangalore. Vaibhav’s past professional stints include a technology consultant role at COMSOL Multiphysics India, and a technology researcher role at EPFL Switzerland. His areas of technical expertise include renewable energy technologies like fuel cells, lithium ion batteries and solar PV.
