The ninth orientation programme of International Management Institute, Kolkata (IMI-K) was held on June 19 at the institute’s Dr RP Goenka auditorium. Dr Michael Feiner, Consul-General, German Consulate General in Kolkata, was the chief guest.
Prof Arindam Banik, Director, IMI, congratulated the new batch of 180 students, chosen from 4,600 applicants. This year, IMI-K has students from 22 States. Dr Banik said that the institute believes in creating an environment for knowledge dissemination by faculty members from diverse backgrounds who succeed in intellectually capturing the creative and diversified minds of the students.
A former Diplomatic Liaison to President (Speaker) of German Parliament, Dr Feiner said, “IMI Kolkata is a beautiful and innovative business school which depicts multiple shades of management teaching and promises to impart a wealth of knowledge and skills that the institute specialises in.”

“We should try to remain true to ourselves and depict our true personality for reaping the advantage of learning and implementing the same to make a better world,” he added. On a similar note, Swatilekha Sengupta and Sohini Sengupta, eminent national award-winning theatre personalities, stressed the importance of being real and said, “There is nothing more beautiful than being you.”
The IMI-Kolkata campus in Alipore, spread over nearly three acres, was established in 2010 to provide opportunities to learn, grow and develop multiple skills across various disciplines of management. The post-graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is accredited by the National Board of Accreditations (NBA). The Institute also offers an AICTE approved full-time Fellowship Programme in Management (FPM).
The institute awarded the prestigious Dr Rama Prasad Goenka Merit Scholarship to the present second-year students. Tanishka Murarka received the highest scholarship of ₹75,000.
