India’s finance leaders to address NUS members

Programme aimed at developing visionary and effective leadership for Asia’s financial institutions

India’s finance leaders including Raghuram Rajan, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India; Uday Kotak, Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank; and Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank will be sharing their insights with participants from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School from December 7 to December 9.

The interaction is part of the 10- month long Asia Leaders in Financial Institutions (ALFI) programme developed by the NUS Business School. The programme is aimed at developing visionary and effective leadership for Asia’s financial institutions.

Conducted in 17 days over 10 months, ALFI is designed for senior leaders in Asia’s financial sector and features an intensive curriculum aimed at strengthening thought leadership, professional competencies, and change management skills.

The inaugural segment of the programme took place in Singapore in September 2015 with several days of in-depth discussions, case studies, and lectures on financial leadership.

Mumbai is the second stop in this programme, which also includes visits to the financial hubs of New York and Beijing. During these segments, participants will engage with senior leaders from the finance industry and world-class experts from academia.

In Mumbai, discussion topics will range from “The Global and Indian Economic Situation” to “Building a World Class Retail Banking Franchise.”

“India is the fastest growing large economy in the world today with enormous promise of maintaining this dynamism in the years and decades ahead. The quality of financial intermediation is going to be central to realising the promise of the India Growth Story. Understanding the challenge and complexity of India is therefore critical for Asian Financial Leaders of Tomorrow. The goal of the Mumbai segment of ALFI is to give these leaders of tomorrow a flying start on this endeavour,” said Duvvuri Subbarao, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and Distinguished Visiting Fellow at NUS Business School, and ALFI guest lecturer.

ALFI programme features a network of more than 30 leaders sharing their experiences alongside NUS Business School academics.

The current cohort of participants comes from countries such as India, Indonesia, and Japan. They bring with them varied experiences in sectors such as banking, insurance and asset management.
