Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management celebrates foundation day

Adhering to ethics will make you a successful leader, says former Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) celebrated its 25th foundation day. Former Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh delivered a lecture on “Leadership Challenges for Budding Corporate Leaders”. The event was presided by former Union Minister Anil Shastri, who is the chairman of LBSIM.

Gen Bikram Singh said: “What I see here today is a dream. You get an ocean of opportunities that you need to grab. In the corporate world you will face many challenges, but you have to overcome them to become a leader. The first challenge is that every organisation has a different culture which you need to adapt to. The second challenge is to be able to remain on the right path. Third, the student must learn the art of understanding non-verbal communication. Last but not least, get around corporate politics by empowering yourself so that no one will able to touch you.

“Retribution (in the sense of reward or recompense), ethics and confidence — if you work on these three, you will surely become a successful leader. Whenever you get the power to give duties, pass it to your subordinates and take missions from your superiors.”

LBSIM honoured its alumni for corporate excellence. The recipients were Amit Kapoor (batch 1995-97), General Manager, SEBI; Rohit Kheten (batch 1995-97), Director, Shri Shyam Agro Biotech Pvt Ltd; Vikas Nangia (batch 1996-98) Managing Director, Acore Capital Investment, Singapore; Prashant Kaul (batch 2001-03) Vice-President, Bank of America; and Manjuri Sinha (batch 2005-07), Global head of talent acquisition, OLX Group, Berlin.

To conclude, Shastri gave a brief report on the achievements of LBSIM. He thanked the students and faculty for bringing laurels to LBSIM through their hard work and talent.
