Management institutes provide able leadership training: Prakash Javadekar

Keep sustainable growth in mind while working: Prof. CP Shrimali

“Institutes of learning are the most enduring organisations in the world as they have taken the society to next stage of development” Prof. Ved Prakash, Chairman, UGC, Guest of Honour at the convocation ceremony of MDI Gurugram, said.

Management Development Institute Gurugram recently bid adieu to the graduating students of the batch of 2015-17. The convocation ceremony was held on March 24, at the MDI premises.

Delivering the welcome address, Sanjay Dhande, Chairman, MDI said: “Through the years, MDI has been living the vision to create thought leaders and change masters. Its sustained focus on delivering quality education and creating a culture of learning has enabled its students to make an indelible mark at the national and international level on the professional and academic front.”

He further added: “Our students have not only been groomed to become successful entrepreneurs and executives, but they have also been trained to think with a social perspective and emerge as agents of change in the dynamic business environment, possessing a well-developed global, economic, political and cultural mindset. I urge all of you to seize this moment and create your own legacy, and every time you celebrate attaining a milestone, we at MDI will be equally joyous, because for MDI, you will always be family.”

Leadership training

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, congratulated the graduating students in a recorded message. He discussed the problems of the Indian economy with the students and shed some light on the employment generating and skill-building projects being undertaken by the central government. He said: “When the economy grows, we need good leaders and better managers. India needs expertise in all sectors to manage the economy. We need to realise that in order to be part of growth story of India, education institute need to focus on research. Management institutes will provide able leadership training to manage the economy of India."

Graduating batch

This year, MDI Gurugram conferred diplomas on 511 students, from various Post Graduate Management programmes including 8 Fellow scholars. 21 medals were awarded to meritorious students for academic excellence.

The two-day occasion also witnessed a pre-convocation ceremony on March 23, where discussions on the modern economy were held.

Commenting on the success achieved by the students, and encouraging them to adopt a more holistic view of success, Prof. CP Shrimali, Acting Director, MDI Gurugram said: “In a competitive environment, only those who differentiate and distinguish themselves, can achieve the pinnacles of excellence, success, innovation and creativity. For that, however, one needs to understand the true meaning of success. Being happy, healthy and maintaining fond relationships with people around are the pillars of success.” He added: “Become entrepreneurs and job seekers, but also ingrain the principles of social responsibility and humanity in your actions. Sustainable growth and concern for the less privileged, the society and the environment should be the determining factors of your actions, because they, ultimately, are the silent stakeholders.”

Placements

The placement process at MDI Gurugram was also a success with MDI’s regular recruiters, along with a bevy of new companies, returning and offering 143 students jobs to the students. The average CTC across the three courses stood at ₹18.89 lakh per annum, with the highest domestic CTC being ₹28.74 lakh per annum. MDI sustained its record as one of the most globalised business schools with as many as 15 students bagging international offers. Tolaram Group extended four international offers with a package of ₹55 lakh per annum which is the highest overall CTC offered this season.
