MICA hosts leadership series with Anil Bhasin

Right attitude and focussed action makes a good marketer says Havells President

As part of the virtual leadership series conducted by MICA, Ahmedabad, ‘Navigating through uncertainties in challenging times,’ Anil Bhasin, President, Havells India Ltd, spoke to the final year students of the management school.

Redefining the four Ps of marketing with the changing times, he said, “The new and improved four Ps of marketing are people, pride, passion and purpose.” Sharing his mantra — celebrate each day as if you’re reborn everyday — he emphasised the need for good behaviour at workplaces. He said, “Most of the time, people are hired for their skills but fired for their behaviour. We need the right kind of people, aligned with the belief system of an organisation. The difference between a good company and a great company is the culture of the organisation.”

Speaking of making a change during complicated times and the power of action, he said, “Simply having a positive attitude doesn’t guarantee success. A positive attitude with the right action increases the probability of success.”

His advise to the students was to adapt and constantly evolve with the changing times in order to avoid the risk of becoming an outdated marketer. “We should unlearn, re-learn and keep on learning,” he said.
