MISB Bocconi honours first batch of business analytics executive programme

Second batch commenced in October this year; third batch to commence next year

MISB Bocconi and Jigsaw Academy on December 17 honoured 23 students from its first batch of the executive programme in business analytics (EPBA).

Navanit Narayan, Chief Delivery Officer at Idea Cellular Limited, was the chief guest for the function. Gaurav Vohra and Sarita Digumarti, the founders of Jigsaw Academy, were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the students, Prof Himanshu Rai, Dean of MISB Bocconi, advised the students on three aspects of analytics, “In analytics, the first is to ask the right question; the second is that there is great difference between data and information, and the last is integrity.”

Speaking on the occasion, Navanit Narayan said, “In analytics, don’t stick with models and processes, but think out of the box to arrive at a solution.”

Gaurav Vohra said, “There is lack of talent in the analytics field, and this programme has ensured that the students are equipped with the right skills to grab opportunities.”

This programme is the first long-term big data analytics programme that has been designed specifically for working professionals who want to earn an international certification while continuing to work.

The outgoing batch of EPBA students has an average work experience of nine and a half years years. With the success of its first batch, MISB Bocconi has already launched the second batch in October this year, and the third batch is expected to start in October next year.

The programme aims at providing in-depth knowledge on the tools and technologies that are most sought after by the industry, like predictive modelling, data mining, big data analytics, marketing, operations and risk analytics, among other analytics areas. The participants of the programme also work on the Capstone project, where they apply their learning, benefiting both the participants and the organisation.
