‘Remain rooted and know ground realities’

Founder Prof J Philip addresses first outgoing batch of XIME Chennai students

The Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Chennai, hosted the convocation of the institute’s first batch of students last week. The event was declared open by former IAS officer PC Cyriac, in his capacity as Chairman, Board of Governors, of XIME Chennai.

Prof J Philip, Founder–President of the XIME Society, advised students to ensure that they remain humble, stay rooted and know the ground realities. He addressed the graduating students, telling them to carry the responsibility of being brand ambassadors of the institute. Their accomplishments would set the standard for future batches.

The chief guest, Shyam Srinivasan, MD and CEO, Federal Bank, told the students that there is no alternative to hard work. He stressed the importance of collaborating and carrying the students’ extended teams along, and to ensure that their passion is harnessed at their workplace.

“India is in a dire need of managers who would put the country’s and their organisation’s requirements and needs above their own,” he added. Srinivasan presented awards to seven students, who had excelled in various fields during their stint at XIME Chennai.

The awardees were:

1. Dinesh Konidala: The Chairman’s Gold Medal for highest grades

2. Pravin Sridhar: The Ramco Cements Award for Excellence in Finance

3. Rhea Maria James: The ATHMA HR Forum Award for Excellence in Human Resources

4. I Sai Kruthika: The Krea Consultancy Award for Excellence in Marketing

5. Deepthi Baswa: The Intellect Design Arena Award for Excellence in Operations

6. Sam Sunder: The OBO Bettermann Award for the Best All-Round Student

7. Pushpendra Singh: The XIME Award for Best Contribution to Humanitarian and Societal Activities

In his address PC Cyriac lauded the institute for ensuring nearly complete placement of its first batch of students. He said, that it was now up to the students who have passed out to prove their worth in this uncertain and complex corporate world.
