Sachin Kumar Mangla receives BIMTECH’s award for impactful research

Sachin Kumar Mangla of Jindal Global Business School, O P Jindal Global University, Sonepat, Haryana, bagged the first position in Basant Kumar Birla Distinguished Research Scholar Awards and ₹3 lakh in prize money, based on the number of research papers published in higher-ranked journals in the past five years.

Birla Academy of Arts and Culture, Kolkata, in honour of the visionary leader Basant Kumar Birla, instituted Basant Kumar Birla Distinguished Research Scholar Awards for social science and management disciplines, in the year 2019.

The purpose of the award, which is coordinated by the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, is to encourage Indian scholars engaged in management and social sciences to compete at the global level by publishing high-quality research.

Focus on private sector

Followed by Mangla, the second prize, worth ₹2 lakh, was awarded to Prof Shalini Talwar of SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai. The third prize and ₹1 lakh in prize money was won by Rajesh Kumar Singh, Professor, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. The awardees will be felicitated on October 2, 2022, during the BIMTECH Foundation Day.

In its third year, the award committee decided to focus on private sector institutes alone. Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, said, “As an institute in the private sector, we should support faculty working with private institutes and universities who often do not get access to research funds.”
