Sangharsh winds down to an eventful end

IIMA emerges overall winner for third consecutive year, with IIMC coming in second

After two days of terrific sporting action, Sangharsh concluded with the last day witnessing the men’s basketball and cricket finals, among other sporting events. The leaderboard made it evident that IIM Ahmedabad would win the fest once again, completing a hat trick. While IIM Calcutta (IIMC) won both the cricket and basketball finals, it wasn’t enough for them to catch up with Ahmedabad

Unsurprisingly, IIMA clinched Sangharsh with 145 points. IIMC came second with 112 points with IIMB at 85, and IIML at 76. This is IIMA’s third victory, which was possible due to gold medals in badminton, carom, football, squash, frisbee, swimming, throwball, table tennis (women’s event) and volleyball. IIM Calcutta fought hard, dominating in basketball, chess, cricket and tennis. IIM Bangalore & IIM Lucknow put up a tough fight in other sports, but they only managed two and one gold medals, respectively.

This time, kabaddi was included in Sagharsh as a non-medal sport. The youngsters took a strong liking to the sport, evidenced by the healthy turnout that the finals of both the men and womens Kabaddi events late at night on the second day.

Events like Sangharsh not only foster strong inter-college bonding among the four oldest IIMs, they also serve as well-deserved breathers for management graduates in their otherwise busy schedules.
