Seminar on Cyber Law Dynamics at ICFAI Law School

ICFAI Law School, an affiliate of ICFAI University, Hyderabad, had organised a Seminar on “Digital India: Cyber Law Dynamics” at its campus at Dontanpally, Hyderabad, on Saturday.

Technology to tackle judicial issues

L Narasimha Reddy, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, inaugurated the seminar and delivered the key note address.

“Technology is developing and we have to step up legal infrastructure to tackle judicial issues,” started the eminent judge. “Necessary legislatures have to be made. Government has taken up the task of connectivity to rural areas so that the benefit of Information Technology reaches rural population,” Reddy added. He also stated that the judicial functioning is undergoing revolutionary changes, with cyber law dynamics being a crucial part of the digital world. He went on to advise students to stay in the loop regarding the latest developments in Cyber Laws. He also briefed them about implications of social media, internet, and cyber crimes.

Technical sessions

The seminar was conducted in three different technical sessions on the following topics:

1) Information Technology Law: Applications and Implications

2) Cyber Forensics: Investigations and Prosecutions

3) e-Governance: e-Justice

Speakers included U Ramamohan (SP (CID) - Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad), Justice Yathirajulu (Former Chairman, APAT), B Ramakotaiah (IRS, Accountant Member, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal), Ashok Ramkumar (Advocate, IP Markets), Avaneesh N (Advocate), Prof A V Narsimha Rao and Prof Annapurna of ICFAI Law School.

Prof J Mahender Reddy, Vice Chancellor if the university, presided over the event and highlighted the current issue of Cyber Crimes. He said there was a need for such seminars as it would help cross-pollinate ideas to augment the body of knowledge.

A Narasimha Reddy (Chairman, Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh) and N Ramachandar Rao (, MLC and Member of Bar Council of India) attended the seminar as Guests of Honour. The do also saw Prof V Hemalatha Devi, Dean, Faculty of Law, and faculty members and students of ICFAI University attend the seminar.
