Shyamala Gopinath appointed chairperson of BoG of IIM Raipur

She was the Deputy Governor of RBI for seven years

Shyamala Gopinath, Chairperson of HDFC Bank has been appointed the Chairperson of the Society and Board of Governors of IIM Raipur.

Gopinath holds a Master's Degree in Commerce and is a CAIIB. She comes with over 39 years of experience in financial sector policy formulation in different capacities at RBI.

Gopinath currently serves as Chairperson of the Clearing Corporation of India Limited and Clearcorp Dealing Systems (India). She is also a Chairperson of the Advisory Board on Bank, Commercial and Financial Frauds (Government of India) and Chairperson of the Corporate Bonds and Securitisation Advisory Committee of SEBI.

She has also been the Chairperson of the Advisory Board at Central Vigilance Commission since March 26, 2012.

Gopinath was also the Deputy Governor of RBI for seven years. She has guided and influenced the national policies in the diverse areas of financial sector regulation and supervision, development and regulation of financial markets, capital account management, management of government borrowings, forex reserves management and payment and settlement systems.

“The appointment of Gopinath as the Chairperson of the BoG of IIM Raipur will propel the institute in the direction of achieving its vision of making IIM Raipur a world class institute with global outlook imbedded with regional and national focus,” said a press statement by IIM Raipur.
