Students, professors from Univ of Edinburgh visit India

Expert from Edinburgh to take part in Make in India-Hackathon

A delegation of academics and experts from the UK-based University of Edinburgh is visiting India from February 11-25. The visit is aimed at strengthening academic and research partnerships in India.

The University will showcase its research, design and technology. The visit’s highlight is participation of students and academics at the Make in India Week in Mumbai. The renowned for Li-Fi technology Harald Haas, professor at Edinburgh’s Head of Mobile Communications, will be demonstrating the technology and will be exploring its potential at the Make in India week and IIT-Bombay.

Jamie Cross from the University will lead a team of students at the Make in India-Hackathon to develop ideas that solve urban design challenges. Apart from MIIW, experts will also participate in a series of public lectures and academic events on projects including marine renewable technology, animal husbandry and Indian politics.

The range of events and meetings will provide an opportunity for Edinburgh to maximise awareness of its academic, teaching and research partnerships in India.

The University will also develop and strengthen relationships with existing and new academic partners. Edinburgh already has strong links with a number of Indian universities including the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science, National Centre for Biological Science, the University of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
