Symbiosis Law School hosts Symbhav fest from Feb 21-25

Tenth edition of inter-collegiate fest will showcase cultural performances and legal contests

'Symbhav’18', the Tenth Edition of Symbiosis Law School's Inter-Collegiate Annual Cultural Festival, is on at Pune from February 21 and ends on February 25. The aim of the festival is to bring together students from different disciplines across the country as well as abroad to exhibit their talents.

The theme for this edition is ‘Global Village’, reflecting the essence of Symbiosis International (Deemed University)’s spirit of Vasudaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family. It focuses on diversity in cultures and traditions, and their integration is showcased in this fest, Symbhav. This year’s Symbhav is all about celebrating the spirit of harmonious co-existence and establishing a symbiotic relationship among different peoples of the world. It aims to highlight the myriad cultures that thrive across nations, with a particular emphasis this time on sports enthusiasts.

The cultural fest was inaugurated on February 21 by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The programme was conducted in Symbiosis Law School, Viman Nagar campus.

Symbhav 2018 will host approximately 3,000 participants from across India including 20 outstation (four National Law Schools) and one international team (New Zealand). This Symbhav will witness 55 legal, sports and other cultural events, and will see the distribution of cash and other prizes for event winners. The flagship events of the fest include the fashion show, war of the DJ’s, battle of the bands, group dance, Gear Heads, basketball and football.

The tenth edition of Symbhav has introduced innovations under different categories, including Street Play, Stage Play, Beatboxing under Performing Arts; Funk from Junk under Creative events; Block & Tackle and Word Games under Literary/Entertainment; Lip Sync Battle under Miscellaneous; Futsal, Footvolley, Sports Essay and Sports Quiz under Sports.

The legal events this time will witness an innovative event, Extempore Moot, in addition to the other events such as Client Counselling, Mediation, Negotiation and Judgment Writing.

Symbhav 2018 will also showcase an ensemble of curios and crafts as also a cultural exhibition by prison inmates, self-help groups and NGOs such as Maher, representing the ethical core of SLS.

The other major attraction of Symbhav 2018 are the ProNites, starring Farhan Akhtar and his band playing for 90 minutes on February 23, stand-up comedian Varun Thakur and The Local Train Band on 24th and international DJs Candice Redding and& Zaeden on 25th.
