Tickling grey cells at Xpressions’15

The annual cultural fest of XIMB successfully concluded on Sunday

The annual management-cultural fest of XIMB, Xpressions’15, concluded on a high note on Sunday.

Over 3,000 students from various b-schools — IIM Bangalore, IIM Shillong, IMI Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XLRI, Great Lakes Institute of Management, NIT Rourkela and others — took part in the event. Apart from fun, the fest tickled the grey cells of the students, who put in their best efforts to solve and face challenging events.

The committees

The business events are organised by the committees of the college as an attempt to showcase the business acumen, managerial skills and talent of students from various B-Schools.

Nirnay : The business simulation event organised by X-Ops, the operations society of XIMB, not only tested the participant’s basic concepts of operations management but also his/her awareness of the latest happenings in the field.

Team “Marcops” from IIM Ranchi walked away with the prize while team “100X” from XIMB came second.

Maven: A quest for the supreme consultant, tested the consulting and strategy skills of participants in different functional areas. The national level case study competition had a large number of participants, and team “Ab Ki Baar” from XIMB won the event, closely followed by “Phaldins” from SCIT Pune, who came second. The event was organised by Constrat, the consulting and strategy association of XIMB.

Parikrama : The flagship event of the systems association of XIMB, X-Sys, is a national level online treasure hunt competition that tested the analytic acumen, presence of mind and intelligence of the participants. It was won by Saurabh Wadhwa from XIMB while Sheeladitya from XLRI came second.

MPower : The marketing association of XIMB, MAXIM, conducted this national level case study competition, designed to test the marketing skills of the participants. After closely competition, it was won by Priyank Shah and Shubhanshu Tewari from XIMB. Pranay Kohli and Puja Bedi from XIMB were the runners up.

Case in Point : XIMAHR, the HR association of XIMB, conducted this HR case study competition, which tested the analytical, data-interpretation and conceptualisation skills of the students. Team Sankalp was adjudged as the winning team and Aman Purohit from XIMB was recognised as the best manager.

Case Connect : Another case study competition, conducted as part of Xpressions’15, saw participation from the top B-Schools of the country. The first and second places for this event were won by teams from XIMB.

In addition to these, Inquizzitive, the quiz event and the first XIMB Model United Nations were also held.
