Unity in diversity at VIT, Vellore

The highlight was the performance by the international students

Aikya, a commemoration of unity in diversity, was conducted on the second day of Riviera 2018, on February 16 at VIT, Vellore. An immense platform for performers and an opportunity to create awareness and increase interest in the cultures of different states, Aikya was a vibrant display of the grace and power associated with the rich cultural heritage of India.

A key aspect of any culture is the clothing associated with it, and students of VIT went up and above by dressing up in vibrant colours. The term 'Aikya' is derived from a Sanskrit word, meaning unity. And true to its namesake, it united the students under one event.

Students representing Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and, for the first time, Karnataka provided the audience with a glimpse into the depths and intricacies of their cultures.

The highlight was the performance by the international students, who were also participants of Infusion, another event of Riviera, aimed at strengthening the bond between our students and students of other nations.

Krishna Radhakrishnan, President, Women Entrepreneur’s Welfare Association, Tamil Nadu, graced the occasion as chief guest for the event.

The States that were represented in the cultural parade were: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Maharashtra, Orrisa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
