With 20 scoring 100 percentile, men and engineers dominate CAT results

Sectionals, however, see women and non-engineers scoring 100 percentile

The Common Admission Test (CAT), the premier test for being shortlisted to the IIMs and other top B-schools, continues to be male-dominated and by engineers. Twenty candidates scored an overall 100 percentile in CAT 2016, the results of which were announced this morning. They are all male and all engineers. IIM Bangalore’s Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016, said: “In the sectionals, many non-engineers and female candidates have scored 100 percentile.”

On December 4, 2016, 1.95 lakh candidates took the test which was conducted across 138 cities in the country. On Monday, January 9, the candidates were informed individually by text messages about the results and their overall percentile, with the results also being announced on the CAT website .

“The untiring support of the CAT Committee, comprising admissions chairpersons of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow, and the tremendous hard work of the CAT 2016 Secretariat at IIM Bangalore played a big role in enabling us to declare the results on schedule,” Prof. Bandi said.

On a related note, the professor added that IIM Bangalore would announce its shortlist for personal interviews on its website later today.
