XLRI inaugurates PGP Certificate in Entrepreneurship Management

The new batch consists of 66 students selected after a rigorous process

XLRI Jamshedpur recently inaugurated the sixth batch of its Post Graduate Programme for Certificate in Entrepreneurship Management (PGP-CEM: 2015-16) at XLRI’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) in XITE campus, Gamharia.

The new batch consists of 66 students, selected after a rigorous process.

PGP-CEM is a full time six-month programme in the domain of entrepreneurship management designed and developed by Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) of XLRI to provide competency-based education with a view to promote entrepreneurship and equip participants with the essential conceptual and operational skills required to run an entrepreneurial venture successfully.

“We are at an interesting phase in the history of Independent India. Our resurgent economy is slowly but steadily putting in place a favourable eco-system for budding entrepreneurs. It is interesting to see that this year’s batch comprises of students from diverse educational backgrounds and professional disciplines like engineering, law, business management, computer application, chartered accountancy and post-graduates in various other fields. We hope this diversity will help the process of peer learning,” said E Abraham SJ, Director, XLRI.

Besides the usual inputs on functional areas of business like finance, marketing, human resource management, economics and strategy, the curriculum also focuses on specific relevant topics in entrepreneurship in India like family business, techno-entrepreneurship and agribusiness management.

It also includes a separate subject on Social enterprises, which has evolved as a distinct form of entrepreneurial ventures in the country with the objective to impart and enhance entrepreneurial skills and instil an integrative approach to business.

A project formulation component is also added to the programme under which students will require to draw up a blueprint of action prior to the actual embarking on a business venture.
