XLRI offers a management programme for working professionals

Admission for the course, PGDM for Working Executives and Business Owners, is open now

XLRI - Xavier School of Management has opened admissions for the 2017-20 batch of Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) for Working Executives and Business Owners. The three-year part-time weekend programme, approved by AICTE, includes over 900 hours of classroom interactions.

Spread over three academic years, the programme is designed to accommodate working professionals who want to pursue the course without any hindrance to their professional engagements. It is a rich mix of core courses, elective courses, and dissertations to provide a holistic approach to both practical and conceptual aspects of management domains. Further, the course structure and choice of pedagogical approaches provide multiple opportunities for peer learning and application of knowledge to real-life business situations.

“The programme allows working professionals, who are willing to stretch out a bit, to acquire the highest quality management education while continuing with their current work. It has been exclusively designed to facilitate two-way learning; thus, while participating in the programme, students can get opportunities to apply the conceptual insights gained in the classroom to their respective workplace on a day-to-day basis,” said E Abraham SJ, Director of XLRI.

The classes will be held at the XLRI campus, Jamshedpur, on the weekends to accommodate the time constraints of students. The classes will start at noon on Saturday and end by 4.15 pm on Sunday to allow students from outside Jamshedpur to attend the programme. Virtual classroom sessions shall be delivered over a direct-to-desktop mode and will be around 25 per cent of the total sessions for core courses only.

The last date of application with payments is March 14.

Candidates with a three-years Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by a deemed university, and minimum work experience of two years in managerial/supervisory/executive/ownership roles prior to April 30, 2017 are eligible to apply for this programme. Candidates who have completed the four-year Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline from a deemed university are also eligible to apply. The candidate must have a score of 50 per cent or more (or its equivalent GPA) in the above programmes.

Candidates will be selected through a written aptitude test on April 9. The test will have sections on quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and English language skills. The personal interviews are to be held from April 7-17.

The fees amounts to ₹10 lakhs, payable in instalments as decided by the institute. The classes are scheduled to commence from the third week of May.
