XLRI – Xavier School of Management announces admission to the three-year part-time weekend program, Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) for working executives and business owners for the batch 2019 to 2022.
This AICTE-approved programme is designed with the objective of imparting high-quality of management education and provide a general management perspective to the participants. The programme structure comprises weekend classes to maintain the balance between the candidates’ work, personal life and learning rigour to the best.
The programme comprises of 900 hours of course-work, spread over three years to accommodate the time constraints of working executives and business owners. Sessions are conducted mainly using physical classrooms during the weekends at XLRI-Jamshedpur campus, along with special, virtual classroom-based sessions to provide opportunities for interaction with faculty members, peers, and industry experts.
Virtual classroom
The virtual classroom sessions are to be held on select weekends, which will comprise 25 per cent of the sessions. The students are provided with multiple opportunities to share their work/marketplace experiences to enrich classroom learning and foster meaningful, value-added discussions among peers.
The programme gives the students opportunities to apply conceptual insights gained in the classroom to their respective workplace on a day-to-day basis. The programme also include two field work-based projects that provide scope to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-life business settings and decisions. Students are given multiple opportunities to understand the real-life applications and relevance of the knowledge gained in different courses through in-built evaluation mechanisms such as projects, assignments, case-study based assignment cum presentations.
“XLRI has redesigned its highly successful and acclaimed Post-graduate Diploma Programme (Evening) as a weekend programme from 2017 onwards. The programme has been uniquely designed to enable working executives and business owners to develop the requisite managerial and business skills and competence for a managerial/ownership role. The structure of weekend classes allow students to distribute learning load, reduce disruption of work and facilitate learning with emphasis on peer learning mode,” said Fr. Admission criteria
The last date of receipt of application with payments is set on March, 31. Candidates will be selected through a written aptitude test which is scheduled on April, 7. They will be tested on quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and English language skills. Candidates who already given any of the well-established management entrance examination such as, XAT, GMAT, CAT, in the last two years are encouraged to send the copy of the scores along with the application. Personal interviews are to be held from April, 7-17, at XLRI campus.
Candidates who have a three-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by a university or a deemed university and a minimum work experience of two years in managerial/supervisory/executive/ownership role as on April, 30 are eligible to apply for this programme. Candidates who have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline from a university or deemed university are also eligible to apply. The candidate must have a score of 50 per cent or more marks, or its equivalent GPA, in the above programmes.
The fee of the programme is at ₹ 10.72 lakh, and payable in instalments.
The programme is scheduled to commence from the third week of May, 2019.
