Can changing the structure of a language improve women’s status in society?

Did you know French students are taught that the masculine dominates the feminine? This means, even if a room has nine women and one man, they'll have to refer to it in the masculine form.

In order to change this gender equation, French feminists are fighting to make the language more gender neutral. But many don't approve of this: they think this isn't the way to bring about equality.
