YouTube's Restricted Mode censors LGBT videos

Twitter was flooded with this news, prompting the site to respond

Recently, some users noticed that many of their YouTube videos, with content related to the queer community, were hidden in 'Restricted Mode', which outraged them and allies. According to YouTube, 'Restricted Mode' relies on "community flagging, age-restrictions, and other signals to identify and filter out potentially inappropriate content."

In this article, Tech Crunch reports: "It (Restricted Mode) is frequently used by parents, as well as schools, libraries and other institutions, to keep children from finding videos with porn, graphic violence and other objectionable content."
