Nadella asks start-ups to build last mile connnectivity in rural areas

Microsoft CEO on private visit to Hyderabad

He came, spoke and enthralled scores of start-ups gathered at the T-Hub in Hyderabad on December 28.

Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella has asked start-ups to look at building last mile connectivity in rural areas.

He asked them to use white spaces (unused TV spectrum) to provide bandwidth in rural areas.

He said Microsoft would help such start-ups that worked in this area of providing last mile connectivity.

He, however, said that the solutions must have marketability and subsidising such initiatives was not sustainable in the long run.

Satya Nadella, who hails from Hyderabad, is on a private visit to the city.
