This year, a total of 2.44 lakh aspirants applied for the Common Admission Test (CAT) compared to 2.41 lakh last year. The national level management entrance examination is on November 24, Sunday.
Arvind Mantry, Centre Director, T.I.M.E. coaching centre, Chennai, shares insights on how to approach and analyse mock examinations.
Mantry, in a video explainer for prospective candidates, says students are often in a dilemma whether they should take mock examinations every day. He says: “It does not make sense to do that. At the maximum, with just three weeks left, aspirants should take three mocks a week. A mock examination is a benchmark to see where you stand with respect to others.”
Emphasising the importance of analysing mocks, Mantry says: “It is crucial to identify why mistakes have occurred - if it is a calculation mistake or a conceptual mistake. If it’s the latter, you need to fine-tune the concepts and go through the basics properly. If it is the former, you seem to be under pressure, so being more careful is the answer.”
